Route Map

About This Tour

Discover North Carolina like no one else has experienced it. This special corner of North Carolina and Virginia has an abundance of activities to enjoy.
In North Carolina, you can enjoy bike routes fit for the avid gravel or road cyclist, local wineries, lush state park hiking, and a taste of Fly fishing, some of the state’s wonderful trout creeks and rivers.
The tour starts in Blowing Rock, NC, the jewel of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Our routes meander through the small towns of Todd, Glendale Springs, Galax, VA, as well as Mount Airy and Pilot Mountain, NC. These last two mentioned towns are the birthplace of Andy Griffith and the inspiration for the fictional town of Mayberry.
Along the way, you will experience the New River Trail, plentiful local wineries, a hike up Pilot Mountain, a ride in Barney Fife’s squad car and a group clinic at River Girl Fishery on the New River.
This tour is perfectly timed at the end of the tourist season when the Kiddos will be back in school. If you like quiet roads for cycling, cool rivers for fishing, and a taste of delicious wines and your childhood TV characters, this tour is a must
