The Heat is On Spring Training Bike Tour
585 miles from Amelia Island to Key West: a winter training tour for avid cyclists.
Route Map
About This Tour
New for 2027: the perfect eight-day winter cycling training vacation for our more advanced cyclists. This remarkable route takes you from Amelia Island, the northernmost island of Florida, to the southernmost point of Florida, Key West. Towns of interest include St Augustine, Daytona Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Miami and Key West.
You will experience 585 miles of beautiful shoreline, our country’s oldest cities, glamorous Miami, the East Coast Greenway, hundreds of miles of barrier islands and beautiful beachfront communities. The riding surface is almost exclusively paved, with a few hard-packed sand or gravel connecting roads. The bike of choice is a comfortable road or gravel bike.
As a rider, you will push yourself to cover 585 miles in just eight riding days. The route is flat, with just 2,816 feet of elevation gain. You get your rest day at the end of day eight in the resort town of Key West. Along the way we take care of breakfast, lunch and dinner, except one evening in Marathon on your own.
Accommodations are lovely hotels and resorts in our layover towns. Florida is popular at this time of year, so book early to help us secure great accommodations and dinner reservations. This tour takes only 13 riders.
Orientation: 5:00 PM the evening before we ride, at the Hampton Inn Historic District in Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island.
Special Note: If driving, park at the secured Jacksonville International Airport long-term parking (instructions in your travel documents), not on Amelia Island. A shuttle to the starting hotel leaves on the orientation day at 2:00 PM. No e-bike rentals on this tour.
